In late March, Honeywell launched a new product with a lower GWP. The product can be used in refrigeration equipment for various purposes - from supermarkets to manufacturing plants.
The new refrigerant is part of the Solstice range along with other hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) gas mixtures. In addition to refrigerants, the HFO formula is also used by Honeywell in the manufacture of blowing agents, solvents and aerosol gases. With a lower potential for GWP, according to company representatives, the new products have similar or even higher efficiency indicators compared to the products of the previous generation. Customers who have switched to the new line will be able to comply with existing F-gas standards, as well as eco-design requirements and other European environmental standards.
Julien Solet, commercial director of Honeywell's fluoride product divisions in Europe, Africa and India, said that more than one hundred thousand tons of refrigerant are used in the world annually, which maintains the required temperature in a quarter of a million stores and more than three hundred thousand commercial buildings. At the same time, Honeywell will continue to invest in the development and implementation of innovative solutions aimed at combating global warming in the industry.
Honeywell offers the following products: Solstice ze (R-1234ze), a HFO refrigerant that can be used in equipment where R-134a is commonly used (i.e., chillers, heat pumps, non-flammable HFO refrigerant with a GWP of 1, for use in low-pressure centrifugal compressors (home appliances and refrigeration equipment); Solstice N13 (R-450A), a mixture of HFO for refrigerating machines, medium-temperature systems such as supermarket display cases and stand-alone refrigeration units that use non-flammable refrigerants according to the standards; and Solstice N40 (R-448A): a mixture of HFO for low- and medium-temperature refrigeration equipment, such as transport refrigeration systems or freezers in supermarkets.
