Guide on equipment for low GWP refrigerants

AREA has published guidance on equipment for flammable refrigerants c low GWP (you can download it here: http://area-eur.be/publications/guide-equipment-low-gwp-refrigerants). This guide gives technicians a tool for the understanding of the equipment that should be used to service refrigeration systems containing flammable refrigerants with low GWP in the category A2L (low flammability) or A3 (higher flammability).

Alternative HFC refrigerants will be used increasingly as a result of the new EU regulations on F-gases, and possible future international phase-out of substances with high global warming potential. Since many of these alternative refrigerants are flammable, it is very important to ensure that the customer service was used for the safe operation of their equipment with them.

Therefore AREA, association of contractors for refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps, decided to release a guide to provide technicians for the installation of the tool, maintenance and repair of the future equipment containing flammable refrigerants with low GWP. This guide complements AREA Guidelines for minimum requirements for the training and certification of contractors, which concerns the competence of personnel.

Manual is the result of work done by the Task Force on the AREA refrigerants with low GWP (AREA Task Force Low GWP Refrigerants). Marco Buoni, the chairman of the group and vice president of AREA, said: "The low-GWP refrigerants to be used more widely since this summer. Advising and assisting technicians AREA is part of the problem in Europe and around the world, so they can safely cope with these new systems. "
