Confidence Issues in Energy Labeling

The European Association (AREA) in charge of air conditioning and refrigeration, together with other Western organizations, called on the European Commission to conduct a more thorough check of the labeling of B2B products. In addition, the appeal calls for closer attention to the use of the Dealer / Installer sign by companies.

The signatories to the document secured new requirements for marking equipment and approval of Dealer / Installer signs in the field of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps. The document concerns equipment manufacturers, as well as companies implementing installation of HF, HVAC, electrical and low voltage systems.

Among other things, the appeal indicates that the European Commission must ensure the high efficiency of the introduction of energy labeling and energy class labeling, without creating additional administrative barriers.

The joint position of the associations is to allow consumers to more freely navigate in the markings, assess the energy efficiency of products, the class of energy consumption, while maintaining the original principles of labeling.
